Measure the depth from the rear of backsplash or from the wall (do not include tile) to the front of the existing countertop.

It is recommended that the front of the countertop should overhang the door or drawer fronts by 1/2" min. to 1" max.
Measure the depth from the wall behind the cabinets to the front of the cabinet doors or drawers (do not include knobs or pulls).
Add 1/2" min to 1" max to that measurement for countertop overhang.

While standard square corners have a recommended minimum 3/4" (open end) or 1/4" overhang (at appliance), rounded or mitered corners may need additional overhang space. Go to Corners & ends to make your selections and calculate your overhangs.
